Waterstones – Reading Patterns
Project Info:
This project was a rather complicated task. The overall brief was to create random pictures generated by tracking the spoken words of recognisable celebrities reading excerpts taken from popular novels.
The flash application we developed used the pitch, rhythm, speed, tone, and volume of the narrator to influence the drawing of a generative image. Each animated symbol in the piece reacted to the speaker's voice, and changed in accordance to the variables defined by the reading. These symbols were randomly seeded and assigned to various effect parameters in order to create a unique piece for each individual viewer. No two pieces ever looked the same.
This was a labour of love for us but sadly did not make it past the finishing post for reasons out of our control.
